Match Recap: San Diego FC Concludes Leagues Cup Run with 3-2 Win Against Club Puebla at Snapdragon Stadium

San Diego FC (SDFC) concluded its participation in the 2026 Leagues Cup with a 3-2 win against Liga MX side Club Puebla at Snapdragon Stadium. Osvald Søe, David Vazquez and Dagur Dan Thórhallsson each scored for SDFC in the Club’s final Phase One match. 

Søe gave SDFC the early lead, sending a header off a corner kick past Puebla goalkeeper Jesús Rodríguez from near the heart of the penalty box. Puebla tied the match at 1-1 when Kevin Velasco slid behind his defender to send a low shot past SDFC goalkeeper Duran Ferree. Vazquez and Thórhallsson scored in the second half to give the home side a 3-1 lead. Puebla scored late as Eduardo Mustre found the net in the 87th minute of the first-ever meeting between the clubs. 

SDFC finished its second Leagues Cup with a 2-1-0 record, earning victories against Club Puebla and cross-border rival Club Tijuana Xolos on Aug. 9, while falling to Club América on Aug. 6 in Mexico City. 

SDFC now returns to MLS action when the Club travels to Los Angeles to face LAFC at BMO Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 15. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. PT, with live coverage available on Apple TV and radio via San Diego Sports 760 AM.
