The Playmakers program is an ongoing initiative that seeks to identify and showcase the talent of San Diego creatives who are contributing to the culture, substance, and flow of our community. We want to bring the San Diego community together by marrying football and creativity to provide a platform for these Playmakers who are positively impacting our culture by pushing the boundaries through innovative ideas.

The goal is to create a program that consistently provides growth and exposure opportunities for San Diego creatives, while shaping an authentic direction for San Diego FC’s brand and community-building process. Through this program we hope to contribute to the creative fabric of our city by providing paid jobs, projects, collaborations, as well as networking opportunities for Playmakers.

Join the SDFC Playmakers Artist Initiative! Whether you're a photographer, designer, illustrator, graphic artist, be part of the program. Fill out the Interest Form below to get started!

My name is George Ricoy, a graphic artist with a deep passion for sports history, especially teams and mascots. This passion fuels my work and my brand, Homefield, under SDCA Equipment. Living in Tijuana allows me to experience a rich regional culture that many San Diegans overlook. My designs reflect my love for sports and my deep connection to the cross-border lifestyle of San Diego and Tijuana.

Design Inspo:
My design reflects the colors and scenery San Diegans wake up to every morning—from the downtown skyline to the Coronado Bridge, a symbol of the city’s diversity. The SDFC brand colors mirror the sunset, representing more than just a skyline; they mark a new era. With a Major League Soccer team now in the mix, it’s time for San Diego to stand up and show support.

San Diego’s mix of colorful flowers and iconic palm trees reflects the city’s vibrant and welcoming spirit—especially when it comes to sports and SDFC. In this illustration, the flora wraps around and supports the typography, which has a bit of a postcard vibe, symbolizing the love and support of the fans.

Design Inspo:
Inspiration for the design came from being in the SDFC community—observing the dedication of the coaches, the energy of the fans, and the drive of the players. Each design reflects the momentum and unity of the club, representing both the athletes on the field and the supporters in our stands.

Foundation — The Chrome Ball Tour

Throughout 2024 San Diego FC visited each of the 18 incorporated cities. The goal was to introduce ourselves to each community, produce a one-day soccer style event, and collaborate with artists to create a piece of art that reflected how soccer thrived in their respective city. These art pieces from each Chrome Ball Tour city, which became the foundational groundwork for the Playmakers initiative.
