Interested in having your child join our Academy? Sign up below to have your child tryout to be a part of SDFC's Academy. The 2025 open tryouts will be held in October and you will receive an email with exact date, time, location closer to the time.

We recruit academy boys aged 11-12 every year from our homegrown territory of SD/Tijuana, plus open territory as outlined in the MLS Player Development Guidelines here.

San Diego FC's Right To Dream Academy is Hosting Open Tryouts on Friday, October 3, 2025!

Registrations are free! Please note you must RSVP prior to the Open Tryouts in Chula Vista Training Center - 2800 Olympic Parkway, Chula Vista, CA 91915. No walk ups will be accepted so please register below. Per the MLS player development guidelines, only boys from our homegrown territory of San Diego County and Tijuana or surrounding open territories are eligible for recruitment; you can find out more about this here.

Boys born in 2014-2015 are the only ones who can currently tryout.

Admissions

Similar to other Right to Dream Academies, a new class of boys aged 11-12 years old will join the Academy each year. Student-athletes are selected based on long-term potential rather than current performance. The scouting process begins almost a year in advance during Fall with a series of open tryouts in San Diego and Tijuana with approx. 3,000 boys participating in 2025.

The selection and admissions process is intentional, thorough, and goes through multiple stages that include:

  1. Ongoing selective football assessments
  2. Home Visits
  3. Week-long residential talent selection camp that assesses potential and fit across football, academics, and character
  4. Application and Official Offer
  5. It is essential that parents/guardians remain connected and in steady communication with the Academy throughout all stages. Failure to follow through on requests and/or to attend required sessions can result in a student-athlete missing an opportunity to attend the Academy.
