RESIDENTIAL LIFE AT THE ACADEMY

In the model of the Right To Dream academies around the world, San Diego FC’s Right To Dream Academy integrates a residence into the academic and football lives of all the student athletes in the Academy. The residential program embeds the daily life of the student athlete and seeks to optimize their living environment and growth across all areas of development.

The Academy campus is situated in the mountains east of San Diego and includes the school, world class football facilities for both the Academy and San Diego FC, and two newly renovated dormitory buildings capable of housing up to 120 student athletes between the ages of 12 and 18. In this safe and focused setting, there are age-appropriate spaces throughout, students can pursue diverse individual interests and hobbies, there is opportunity to learn decision-making to support a healthy lifestyle and wellbeing, and a cohesive and comprehensive character development program is implemented across all settings.

The student athletes are positioned to thrive and pursue their academic and sporting ambitions while living amongst their peers, mentors, teachers and coaches. They build strong bonds with those around them, take responsibility for their own space and decision making, forge a clear sense of self, reach and aspire with support and expertise on hand, and engage the local community on their journey toward opportunity in both football and academics.
