San Diego FC Announces 2025 Flow Awards

SAN DIEGO (Friday, Dec. 19, 2025) – San Diego FC (SDFC) announced today the Club’s first edition of the Flow Awards for the 2025 inaugural season. The first-edition Flow Awards winners were nominated via an SDFC Club vote, with Anders Dreyer (MVP), Chris McVey (Defensive Player of the Year), Emmanuel Boateng (Great Teammate Award and We Through Me Award), Aníbal Godoy (Top Competitor Award) and Luca Bombino (Growth Mindset Award) earning recognitions.

SDFC MVP – ANDERS DREYER
Dreyer, 27, joined SDFC ahead of the Club’s 2025 inaugural season as the second Designated Player in Club history and immediately made his mark. He put the league on notice by scoring SDFC’s first-ever goal in the 52nd minute of the Club’s MLS debut against the LA Galaxy on Feb. 29, 2025, at Dignity Health Sports Park. Dreyer capped his historic debut with a brace, leading SDFC to a 2–0 victory in the Club’s inaugural MLS match and becoming the first player in Club history to score multiple goals in an MLS match.

In his debut season, Dreyer recorded a team-leading 45 goal contributions (23 goals, 22 assists) in 41 appearances across all competitions. His standout campaign earned him the 2025 MLS Newcomer of the Year award and San Diego FC’s first-ever MLS All-Star selection.

SDFC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR – CHRIS MCVEY
McVey, 28, joined SDFC as part of the Club’s 2025 inaugural season roster and quickly cemented his place in Club history, earning a spot in SDFC’s first-ever starting XI during the Club’s MLS debut against the LA Galaxy on Feb. 23, 2025, at Dignity Health Sports Park.

A native of Sparsör, Sweden, McVey proved to be a foundational piece of SDFC’s backline, finishing the season with the third-most appearances on the team (39), trailing only Onni Valakari (42) and Anders Dreyer (41). Under McVey’s defensive leadership, SDFC recorded 11 clean sheets, tied for the fifth-most in the league during the regular season.

SDFC GREAT TEAMMATE AWARD & WE THROUGH ME AWARD - EMA BOATENG
Emmanuel “Ema” Boateng was recognized with both the Great Teammate Award and the We Through Me Award for his unwavering commitment to his teammates and his impactful support of the San Diego community.

A proud Right to Dream Academy graduate, Boateng is a leader and role model who exemplifies both SDFC’s and Right to Dream’s core values, serving as a constant pillar within the locker room and leading by example. From mentoring young players to engaging with fans and families across San Diego, Ema’s journey from Ghana to professional football continues to inspire others and reinforces the Club’s values.

SDFC TOP COMPETITOR AWARD- ANÍBAL GODOY
Godoy, 35, embodies the competitive spirit that sets the standard at SDFC. A constant presence in the midfield, he leads with experience, intensity, and an unwavering drive that elevates those around him.

The most capped player in Panama’s national team history (155 caps), Godoy registered 33 appearances across all competitions for SDFC while also making six appearances during Panama’s qualification campaign for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. His relentless mentality and commitment to excellence continue to push his teammates to the next level.

SDFC GROWTH MINDSET AWARD – LUCA BOMBINO
Bombino, 19, made his SDFC and MLS debut off the bench in the 73rd minute of a 3-1 road victory against Real Salt Lake on March 2, 2025, at America First Field. Throughout the season, Bombino demonstrated a strong commitment to his development, consistently embracing opportunities to learn and improve.

The youngest regular contributor on the roster, Bombino was the only player under the age of 22 to make 33 appearances across all competitions for SDFC, underscoring his growth, professionalism, and readiness to perform at the highest level.
