The New Era of Major League Soccer

Major League Soccer announced a major calendar shift set to begin in 2027, aligning the league with the world’s top soccer competitions and better integration with the Global Transfer Market.

The league will transition to a summer-to-spring format, with the regular season kicking off in July and including a winter break from mid-December through January.

As part of this transition, Major League Soccer will be hosting a Sprint Season beginning in February 2027. This high-stakes season will consist of 7 home games and 7 away games all in Western Conference play. The season will end with an Audi MLS Cup Playoffs beginning in May of 2027.
