Three SDFC Players Called Up for International Duty

Three San Diego FC (SDFC) players have been called up to represent their national teams during the September FIFA international break. The group includes Designated Player Elias Achourii (Tunisia), midfielder Onni Valakari (Finland) and goalkeeper CJ Dos Santos (Cape Verde). 
 

Elias Achouri – Tunisia 

Forward Elias Achouri will represent Tunisia in two qualifying matches for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations as part of Group H. Tunisia will face Uganda on Thursday, Sept. 24, before taking on Botswana on Monday, Sept. 28. Achouri, 27, has earned 33 senior caps for Tunisia in all competitions, including three appearances at the FIFA World Cup 2026™ this past summer as part of Group F. 

Onni Valakari – Finland  

Midfielder Onni Valakari will represent Finland in its upcoming UEFA Nations League matches as part of Group C. Finland will face San Marino on Saturday, Sept. 26, before taking on Belarus on Tuesday, Sept. 29. Finland will then face Albania on Saturday, Oct. 3, before traveling to face Belarus again on Tuesday, Oct. 6. Valakari, 27, has earned 15 senior caps for Finland to date, including five appearances in FIFA World Cup Qualifiers. 

CJ Dos Santos – Cape Verde 

Goalkeeper CJ Dos Santos will join Cape Verde for two 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches in Group K. Cape Verde will face Mali on Friday, Sept. 25, before taking on Rwanda on Tuesday, Sept. 29. Dos Santos has earned one senior cap for Cape Verde and represented the nation at the FIFA World Cup 2026™ this summer. 

The three players will not be available to play for SDFC this weekend as the Club travels to face Austin FC on Saturday Sept. 26 at 5:30 p.m. PT at Q2 Stadium.
