The future doesn’t wait. At San Diego FC, it’s already here.
They call them “Los Niños.” And for us, it’s not just a nickname, it’s a statement.
Last season against Atlanta United, San Diego FC produced the youngest backline in Major League Soccer history, featuring Luca Bombino, Manu Duah, Ian Pilcher, and Oscar Verhoeven, with an average age of 20. SDFC continues to give young stars a chance and are not building for tomorrow, they’re trusting it today.
Match after match, this team has proven that age is just a number; composure, confidence, and culture are what matter. With 3 straight MLS clean sheets from San Diego native Duran Ferree to a brace by 20-year-old David Vasquez against Mexico’s top team Toluca FC, our young players are leaving their mark.
Built For San Diego
San Diego is youthful. Ambitious. Diverse. Fearless. This team mirrors the city, bold enough to take risks, disciplined enough to execute.
San Diego FC is not waiting for their turn. They’ve taken it, and they’re just getting started.
2026 MLS Regular Season
Right to Dream Academy Alum and 18-year-old SDFC winger, Bryan Zamblé scored his first goal in his professional debut against CF Montréal for the Club’s Home Opener on Saturday, February 21.
It took just four minutes after entering the match as a substitute to finding the back of the net. From the center of the box, Zamblé scored the final goal of the match with a right-footed finish to secure the Club’s 5-0 victory.
Ferree secured his first clean sheet after making his debut as the starting goalkeeper for the Club. Since the 2026 campaign kicked off, the San Diego native has been in front of the net for 270 minutes with eight saves and a 100% saves percentage.
Forward David Vazquez made his first start of the season for SDFC against FC Dallas, marking his third career MLS start. Midfielder Pedro Soma has made two starts this season, making four appearances across all competitions while logging 220 minutes in the 2026 campaign.
2026 Concacaf Champions Cup
In addition to the regular season of play, SDFC made their debut in the Concacaf Champions Cup early February with goals from “Los Niños.”
Defender Manu Duah scored his first-ever goal for the Club in Round One Leg One against Liga MX’s Pumas UNAM. In the 68th minute, Duah found the back of the net, past Pumas goalkeeper Keylor Navas with a powerful header to equalize 1-1.
After leveling the match, SDFC scored four unanswered goals from four goal scorers under the age of 23, securing a 4-1 victory over Pumas. David Vazquez, Alex Mighten, Luca Bombino, and Duah all recorded their first goals in the tournament. The Club went on to advance to the Round of 16 after defeating Pumas with a 4-2 aggregate score.
Vazquez recorded his first brace against Liga MX champions Toluca FC in Leg One of the Round of 16 at Snapdragon Stadium. The forward recorded 3 goals in four matches and totaled 140 minutes. In addition, SDFC defender Bombino started in all four matches of the tournament, contributing one goal and two assists. And it’s just the beginning.
