The first half of the 2025 season has come and gone, but the memories San Diego FC have created are unforgettable.
It’s been a season full of first milestones and historic moments for the Club. Here’s the top five moments in Snapdragon Stadium:
Historic Home Opener at Snapdragon Stadium
San Diego FC played their first-ever match at Snapdragon Stadium on March 1, in front of a record-setting crowd of 34,506 fans. SDFC faced St. Louis CITY SC for the first-time in their inaugural season at home. After 90 minutes of play, the match ended in a scoreless draw, 0-0. Relive the homeopener on Instagram here.
Midfielder Onni Valakari Scores the First-Ever Goal at Home
Coming off the bench, midfielder Onni Valakari scored the first-ever goal at Snapdragon Stadium on March 15 against the Columbus Crew. Midfielder Luca de la Torre took the corner kick that set up Valakari’s header and first-ever goal in Club history. In front of the Supporters Section, the midfielder scored in the 69th minute to help end the match in a draw of 1-1.
First-Ever Home win against SoCal Rival LAFC
Everybody loves a SoCal rivalry. San Diego FC faced the Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) on March 29 for the first time at Snapdragon Stadium. The 3-2 victory against LAFC marked the first-ever win at home. Defender Chris McVey, midfielder Onni Valakari, and forward Alex Mighten each recorded one goal to help secure the win against LAFC.
Forward Hirving “Chucky” Lozano’s Header Secures Win against LA Galaxy
On May 24, SDFC took on the Los Angeles Galaxy for the second time and looked to remain undefeated against LA. In the 95th minute, forward Hirving “Chucky” Lozano secured the victory for San Diego FC to defeat the LA Galaxy 2-1. Anders Dreyer crossed to Chucky inside the box and his header found the back of the net.
SDFC Kicked Off June with First International-Friendly against Club América
San Diego FC played their first International-Friendly at Snapdragon Stadium on June 7 against the 16-time Liga MX Champions, Club América. SDFC defeated las Águilas 3-0. Goalkeeper Pablo Sisniega earned a clean sheet, forward Milan Iloski recorded a brace, and forward Tomás Ángel scored the last goal of the night to increase the lead to three.
