SAN DIEGO (Thursday, Sept. 3, 2026) – San Diego FC (SDFC) announced today that the Club has signed defender Manu Duah to a contract extension guaranteed through the 2029-30 season with a Club option for the 2030-31 season.
“Manu has become an incredibly important player for this Club, and we’ve been really impressed with the way he has continued to develop since joining San Diego FC,” said SDFC Sporting Director Tyler Heaps. “He has embraced every challenge we’ve given him, taken significant steps in his game, and consistently shown that he can be relied upon at the highest level. This extension is something he has earned through his performances, his work every day, and the commitment he has shown to his development. We’re excited to continue supporting Manu as he takes the next steps in what we believe can be a very special career.”
Duah, 21, first joined SDFC after being selected No. 1 overall in the 2025 MLS SuperDraft out of the University of California, Santa Barbara. A 2025 Generation adidas signing, Duah made his professional debut in the final minute of SDFC’s 5-3 win over Vancouver Whitecaps FC on June 25 at BC Place.
Duah had a stellar debut season, making 22 appearances (20 starts) in all competitions, including three appearances in the 2025 Leagues Cup and five starts during SDFC’s historic run to the Western Conference Final of the 2025 Audi MLS Cup Playoffs. A native of Accra, Ghana, Duah was one of two SDFC players, along with defender Luca Bombino, to earn a spot on the MLS’s annual 22 Under 22 ranking in 2025.
This season, Duah has made 26 appearances (24 starts) in all competitions, registering one goal and one assist. He also scored his first professional goal in SDFC’s 4-1 win over Pumas UNAM in Leg 1 of the first round of the 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup.
