Match Recap: San Diego FC Falls 4-1 to New York Red Bulls in First-Ever Meeting

San Diego FC (SDFC) fell 4-1 to the New York Red Bulls on Saturday night at Sports Illustrated Stadium in the first-ever meeting between the two clubs. With six matches remaining in the MLS regular season, SDFC (8-12-8) sits in 12th place in the Western Conference with 32 points, four points below the current playoff line. 

New York opened the scoring in the 15th minute and added two more goals before halftime to take a 3-0 lead into the break. Cédric Bakambu pulled one back for San Diego in the 60th minute, redirecting a cross from Anders Dreyer, but the Red Bulls added a fourth goal in stoppage time to secure the victory. 

SDFC will next host the Houston Dynamo on Wednesday, October 14, at 7:30 p.m. PT at Snapdragon Stadium before traveling to face the LA Galaxy at Dignity Health Sports Park on Saturday, October 17.
