San Diego FC hosted the second edition of the Baja Cup, falling 2-1 to cross-border rival Club Tijuana at Snapdragon Stadium. Defender Osvald Søe scored for SDFC, while David Orduño and Ivan Tona scored for the Liga MX side, with Tona’s late goal securing the victory for Tijuana.Â
Orduño opened the scoring for Club Tijuana in the 33rd minute with a quick finish inside the penalty box. SDFC leveled the match just before halftime when Søe capitalized on a Tijuana defensive clearance following an SDFC corner kick. Tijuana regained the lead in the 81st minute when Tona fired a right-footed shot from outside the penalty box into the left corner of the net.Â

TIJ – 0-1 – David Orduño (Joban Gonzalez), 33rd minute: Orduño sent in a right-footed shot from inside the penalty box to open the scoring and give the Liga MX side the lead. Orduño tapped in a ball crossed by Gonzalez into the area from left to right.Â
SD – 1-0 – Osvald Søe, 45th minute: Søe sent in a left-footed shot to level the match after a Tijuana defender headed an SDFC corner kick into Søe’s path, allowing him to slot his shot from near the heart of the penalty box.Â
TIJ – 1-2 – Ivan Tona, 81st Minute: Tona fired a right-footed shot from about 20 yards out into the left corner of the net, beating SDFC goalkeeper CJ Dos Santos to give Tijuana the lead.
