San Diego FC (SDFC) rallied from a goal deficit to earn a point in a 2-2 draw against Southern California rival LA Galaxy at Dignity Health Sports Park and remain unbeaten all-time against LA.Â
Anders Dreyer converted a penalty and Gabriel Pirani scored in consecutive matches to earn SDFC’s second-straight draw. Joao Klauss and Erik Thommy scored for LA Galaxy in the rivalry match that had all four goals scored in the first half.Â
The Galaxy took a 1-0 lead with a goal by Klauss on a counterattack as he sprinted up field with the ball from near midfield. Minutes later, Cédric Bakambu was brought down in the penalty area by Galaxy goalkeeper JT Marcinkowski, who was whistled for a penalty. Dreyer converted the penalty kick to tie the match 1-1 in the 10th minute. The Galaxy answered Dreyer’s goal and took a 2-1 lead with a left-footed strike by Thommy to end a counterattack. Pirani tied the match 2-2 when he put back a blocked shot in the 39th minute for his fourth goal of the season.Â
