San Diego FC’s commitment to community extends into the classroom with the 2026 Back to School Campaign, presented by Hawthorne CAT.
From late July through August the club will be donating school supplies including book bags, folders, bookmarks, lunch boxes and handwritten messages of encouragement to a range of schools across the county, as well as community-based organizations in the Chicano Federation and the San Diego Parks Foundation and the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation.
Packed by SDFC First Team players, volunteers from Hawthorne CAT, and club staff, these supplies will support students’ success in the new school year. Additionally, SDFC players and staff will be visiting campuses to distribute supplies and welcome students back to the classroom and kick off the school year in style.
As part of the campaign, the club will also be distributing school supplies on a first come, first serve basis at its August 1st Community Block Party at Willie Henderson Sports Complex.
The free event celebrates the completion of the club’s second Parks & Pitches project and includes a free youth futsal tournament, pick up soccer & futsal, community vendors and resource booths, music and family friendly activities like face painters, free haircuts & inflatable fun, and concludes with a watch party of the Minnesota United vs San Diego FC match kicking off at 5:30pm.
